Church History

The Southside congregation began meeting November 8, 1998 at the Park Central Apartment Community, located on John Young Parkway under the leadership of Brother Jerome Adams, Sr.

On November 29, 1998 the congregation, which consisted of about 30 persons, began meeting at the Orange Center Elementary School located on 621 N. Texas Avenue, Orlando, FL. By 2002 the congregation out grew the elementary school and moved to Chain of Lakes Middle School where we remained until completion of our current building and place of worship; 4701 Raleigh Street, Orlando, FL.

Various brothers throughout the brotherhood interviewed for the permanent position of Senior Minister. In July, 1999, Bro. Wesley T. Leonard was hired as our permanent fulltime Senior Minister, to this present time. During the tenure of Bro. Wesley T. Leonard, the congregation has grown numerically and spiritually through expository preaching and teaching.

In the fall 1999, serious efforts began in an attempt to secure the property of the congregation’s present location. With the assistance of late Mr. Charlie Brewer, a local developer and church builder, the land was purchased and construction began in the fall of 2003. In December, 2005 the building was complete, and we had our first worship service on Sunday, December 25, 2005.

The congregation has grown to approximately 600 in membership. A leadership consisting of three elders, until the loss of the Late Jerome Adams, Sr., in April of 2014, and 14 deacons to work along with Bro. Leonard. The church currently has two elders: Victor V. Crumity Sr, and Willie L. Davis, a thriving women’s ministry, Young Adults Ministry (YAMS), Youth Ministry, and Men’s Ministry.
